The Story
In the fading color of autumn, one of Grizzly 610’s yearling cubs stands quietly within a field of pale grasses in Grand Teton National Park. Morning haze softens the landscape, reducing the scene to muted tones, delicate texture, and the direct presence of the young bear.
The moment feels both fragile and enduring. The cub is still young, still tied to one of the region’s most recognized grizzly lineages, yet beginning to carry its own sense of independence within the vastness of the Teton landscape.
Fading Season is not a photograph about spectacle. It is a quieter glimpse into the life of a young grizzly — a moment shaped by fog, stillness, and the brief connection of an animal looking out from the edge of autumn.

What drew me to this scene was the quiet tension between vulnerability and strength.
The young bear stood within the fading grasses, softened by fog and surrounded by the muted tones of late autumn. There was no dramatic behavior, no movement, and no obvious sense of action. But the direct gaze carried an emotional weight that felt more meaningful than spectacle.
I was interested in the way the bear seemed both protected by the landscape and exposed within it. The grasses created separation and softness, while the stillness allowed the animal’s presence to come forward slowly.
For me, Fading Season is about early independence, quiet resilience, and the brief moments when wildlife reveals something honest without needing drama.
