Conservation & Ethical Field Practices
A Quiet Respect for the Natural World
The natural world has given me some of the most meaningful moments of my life.
Quiet mornings in mountain valleys. Rain moving through forests. Wildlife appearing briefly in soft light before disappearing again into the landscape. These experiences shape not only the photographs I create, but also the way I think about presence, patience, and our relationship with wild places.
Photography has the power to create connection.
And connection often becomes the beginning of conservation.
My hope is that these images encourage a deeper appreciation for the landscapes, wildlife, and fragile ecosystems that still exist beyond the edges of everyday life — places worth protecting not only for their beauty, but for the sense of perspective and stillness they provide.
Supporting Conservation Efforts
A portion of every sale supports wildlife conservation and habitat protection. Dave Miller donates 5% of each sale to help preserve wildlife, protect natural habitats, and ensure the future of the wild places that inspire this work.
Rather than limiting support to a single organization, contributions may be directed toward a variety of conservation causes whose work aligns with the values of stewardship, preservation, ethical wildlife protection, and environmental responsibility.
Every print purchased contributes in a small way to protecting the landscapes and wildlife that inspire this work.
Ethical Wildlife Photography
Respect for wildlife always comes before the photograph.
Images are created through quiet observation and patience rather than interference or manipulation. Wildlife is photographed in natural conditions without baiting, captive animals, or disruptive field practices.
The goal is not simply to capture wildlife, but to photograph moments that feel authentic to the experience of being present in wild places.
This approach often means:
keeping respectful distance,
allowing animals space to behave naturally,
avoiding unnecessary disturbance,
and accepting that some photographs are not worth taking if they place stress on wildlife or sensitive environments.
Many of the strongest moments in nature happen quietly and briefly. Learning to observe without disrupting those moments is an important part of the process.
A Slower Way of Seeing
The work presented throughout this gallery is rooted in atmosphere, stillness, and emotional connection to the natural world.
Rather than focusing on spectacle or dramatic wildlife encounters, these photographs often explore quieter experiences:
fog settling over mountains,
wildlife moving through rain,
soft evening light,
silence in open landscapes,
or brief moments of calm and presence.
These are the moments that stay with me most deeply after returning home from the field.
Conservation begins with valuing those experiences enough to protect them.
Thank You
