Background
In the winters in the North Georgia Mountains, Pine Siskins congregate near our property. They’re small finches, roughly the size of a goldfinch and fly quickly and erratically making them a fun challenge to photograph. In the winter of 2024, I spent several hours draped in camo netting near a location where they would feed to try to capture a perfect backlit shot of a male in flight. The males have this beautiful yellow streak on their wings and you can see when they fly. After many failed attempts, i finally managed to capture one in a perfect pose.
