Behind the Lens: How the 2026 Wildlife Calendar Came to Life
A year of wild encounters, conservation stories, and photography adventures. - Shipping October 2025
A Calendar I Never Planned to Make
I’ll be honest — I never really thought much about making a wildlife calendar. It always felt like one of those “someday” projects I’d get to eventually. But over the past couple of years, I kept hearing from people on social media: “Will you ever make a calendar?”
Until now, I never quite found the time.
This year, I finally made it happen — and I’m genuinely excited about it. The 2026 Wildlife Calendar brings together some of my favorite moments and most meaningful encounters from the past year in the wild. From puffins braving the sea off the coast of Maine, to bull moose in full rut in the mountains of Wyoming, to black bears navigating the forests of the Smokies — these images tell the story of what it means to live wild and free.
Stories From the Field
Each photograph in the calendar is more than an image — it’s a story from the field. Every month reflects a meaningful wildlife encounter that I had the privilege to witness:
A puffin bursting from the waves off Petit Manan Island in Maine.
Two young prairie dogs sparring on the open plains.
A moose, antlers aglow in autumn sunlight, during the rut in Wyoming.
A black bear cub learning to climb in the Smoky Mountains.
These stories are what inspire me to share photography in the first place — to bring others into the experience of being eye-to-eye with wild creatures in their natural homes.
Behind the Scenes Wildlife Photography
One of the questions I’m often asked is how much planning goes into these moments. The truth is, ethical wildlife photography is as much about patience as it is about preparation. There are no shortcuts, no baiting, no staged animals. Every image comes from long days in the field, observing, waiting, and respecting the rhythms of the natural world.
That approach makes each encounter all the more meaningful. When I look back at these images, I remember not just pressing the shutter, but the silence of the forest, the crash of the ocean, or the crisp bite of mountain air. That’s the story I want this calendar to tell.
Conservation Through Photography
For me, photography has always been about more than the images themselves. It’s about helping others see why these animals and landscapes matter. That’s why 5% of every calendar sale is donated to the World Wildlife Fund, supporting conservation efforts around the globe.
When you hang this calendar in your home, you’re not just decorating your wall — you’re supporting the wild places and wild lives that make our planet so extraordinary.
A Year in the Wild
This calendar isn’t simply a collection of photos. It’s a journey through a year in the wild — a reminder of the beauty, resilience, and wonder of wildlife. Each month, you’ll see a new story unfold: owls at sunrise, bison in winter’s steam, bears among the green of summer.
Whether you’re a longtime collector of my work or just discovering it for the first time, I hope this calendar serves as a daily connection to nature — and an invitation to protect what we still have.
